The Use of Bells in Worship

By Rev. Rebecca

Bells summon us and wake us up. They ring out joy and sometimes alarm. For centuries the Church has used bells to summon people to worship and to toll news regarding victory, death, and celebration. A Sanctus bell is sometimes rung at the point of consecration during the Eucharist to call our attention to and celebrate the miracle of Jesus Christ in the bread and wine.
